Summary
Frontier technologies, prototypes and strategic positioning for the international radio telescope, the Square Kilometre Array. This Network will forge new linkages between scientists and engineers to design and enable an advanced prototype for the international next-generation radio telescope, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA). The prototype will make fundamental new tests of general relativity and the physics of dark energy and test SKA imaging and signal processing systems. The Network partners will collaborate to develop low-cost technologies for ultra-wideband antennas, high-speed signal processing, software radios, mitigation of man-made interference and the handling of petabyte data sets. The aim is a leading role for Australian researchers and industry in the $2 billion SKA.Read moreRead less
Adaptive Multi-user Detectors for Mobile Space-Time Communications Systems over Time Variable Fading Channels. High capacity wire-line internet access (~ 1 Mbit/s) is available through existing telephone lines or through the cable TV infrastructure. The need to have the same quality wireless and mobile internet access is becoming evident. High capacity wire-line internet access (~ 1 Mbit/s) is available through existing telephone lines or through the cable TV infrastructure. The need to have the same quality wireless and mobile internet access is becoming evident. The full deployment of the mobile internet might be delayed due to the low capacity of existing cellular mobile communications systems. This research project will contribute to the understanding of fundamental capacity limitations of the mobile communications concept over communication channels that vary with time. The outcomes of the project will suggest possible solutions to the capacity limitations.Read moreRead less

challenge for current cellular mobile systems being designed for duplex telephony with equal capacity from

algorithm is proposed. The algorithm will provide a significant capacity increase of the future mobile Internet and wireless local area networks (LANs). The project addresses optimum protocols for the mobile channel resource allocation in conjunction to the optimum transmitter-receiver design.Read moreRead less
