Locating the mobile: intergenerational locative media practices in Tokyo, Melbourne and Shanghai. From providing convenience at a fingertip to helping criminal investigations, using locative media has become an essential part of everyday life for individuals, families, businesses and government. Responding to this nascent phenomenon, this project will provide the first cross-cultural, intergenerational study of locative media use.

This project aims to improve the social cohesion of Australian society and the living standards of a significant group of our young people. Around 25 per cent of all Australians aged 12 to 24 are from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. Songlines that map the Australian continent are of iconic significance in the national cultural heritage of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. The vision of Western Desert elders and artists is to share with the wider community an understanding of the scale, spiritual and environmental significance of the Tjukurpa Songlines of Australia.
