    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $234,000.00
    Summary
Business process decomposition. This project will develop guidelines to assist analysts in managing complex business processes by decomposing them into more manageable processes. The project outcomes will make it easier to make informed decisions about process re-design, business innovation or software development, thus contributing to project cost savings.

    Summary
Reconceptualising the information system as a service. Through parallel efforts in Australia and China, the study aims to propel 'IS-Impact', the Australia-originated and most extensively validated IS success measurement model, to become the Information Systems evaluation approach of choice globally, in both research and practice.

The goal of the project is to develop and validate a new theory for how information systems can be designed to assist organisations in becoming innovative. Technological innovation is designed to increase productivity and economic growth, but knowledge is lacking about how information systems can meaningfully support organisations in becoming innovative. The goal of this project is to develop and test a theory of ‘innovation systems’ that would describe design principles for information systems that provide effective and efficient support to organisational innovation processes. The expected project outcomes would assist the development of new systems to support organisational innovations, the management of innovation initiatives to increase productivity and growth, and the effective assessment of technologies to support innovation.

    Summary
Information Systems (IS)-Impact utility and intuitiveness: a rigorous approach to relevance. This study aims to evaluate the key elements of models used in design science to assess the impact of information systems. The work will examine the extent to which rigour and relevance are incorporated into these models.

Developing a Theory of Green Information Systems. Reducing the environmental impact and increasing the environmental sustainability of organisations is a priority for Australia. Technology is meant to assist in this challenge, but knowledge is lacking about how information systems can meaningfully assist organisations in becoming sustainable. The goal of this project is to develop and test a theory of Green Information Systems, which describes design principles for information systems that allow organisations to engage in sustainability sense-making and implement sustainable practices. The outcomes are expected to assist in the development of systems to support sustainability initiatives, the management of sustainability programs, and the reduction of organisations' environmental footprint.

Conceptualizing and Measuring Digital Service Quality. The project aims to understand customer quality perceptions of digital services, and the factors, such as customer's own skill-levels, that help people to optimise their experiences. The project aims to understand customer quality perceptions of digital services, and the factors, such as customer's own skill-levels, that help people to optimise their experiences. Public and private organisations are pushing customers from face-to-face to digital service and self-service models, sometimes offering no alternatives (eg many travel visas can only be obtained online). E-commerce research suggests up to 80 per cent of service users will sometimes struggle with online transactions. In the worst case, people may be excluded from accessing important services. Insights from this research are expected to help public and private organisations to deliver high-quality digital services that empower service users.

A theory of communicative practices within financial internet discussion site communities. This project aims to use online financial investment communities to identify factors that drive communication and influence knowledge co-creation, examine how systematic variations in these factors influence investor decision making, and develop a mid-range theory for explaining and predicting the influence of online communication patterns on individual decisions and market outcomes. This project aims to use online financial investment communities to identify factors that drive communication and influence knowledge co-creation, examine how systematic variations in these factors influence investor decision making, and develop a mid-range theory for explaining and predicting the influence of online communication patterns on individual decisions and market outcomes. By developing and validating a new mid-range theory, initially in the financial investment context, this project will provide significant benefits, such as help to secure Australia’s place in a changing world through improved information flow.
