China's Asia-Pacific Century: Enhancing Australia's Engagement. The emerging regional economic sphere of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, encompassing close to a quarter of humankind, is fast becoming one of the world's two major powerhouses--and a potential locus for international conflict. Australia contains a very large and robust field of hundreds of modern China specialists--as many as all of Europe--but we are very spread out geographically and divided among twenty disciplines. A global analysis of the effectiveness of corporate board diversity quotas. The project aims to examine the global effectiveness of attempts to change the demographic profile of corporate boards through gender diversity quotas (GDQs). It will investigate how firms respond to mandates for GDQs worldwide; how directors are introduced as a result of GDQs inducted into different types of boards globally; and how corporate governance practices need to be adjusted to facilitate intended benefits of co ....A global analysis of the effectiveness of corporate board diversity quotas. Testing the integration and differentiation of national employment systems: multinational enterprises in an international comparative context. Multinational enterprises play a leading role in shaping employment practices as their power disproportionately influences the direction of change in managing people. This project, conducted across six countries, enhances our understanding of how these organisations influence and shape the employment practices and systems in host contexts.
Understanding civil society activists. The growing role and importance of civil society groups demands an understanding of their philosophical and intellectual underpinnings and who the people are that support their agendas. This project provides a multifaceted picture of the supporters of three critical social causes: environmental sustainability, animal welfare and economic globalisation. Understanding who these people are and what motivates them will give us a better understanding of many o ....Understanding civil society activists.
