Summary
Integrated Greenhouse Gas Measurement System (IGMS) for monitoring agricultural emissions at field to regional scales. Measurement of greenhouse gases is critical to Australia’s obligations to reduce carbon emissions. The measurement facility will provide urgently needed accurate emission data from Australian agriculture to establish emission baselines and develop methods to extend the point-scale measurements to whole farm, regional and national scales.

ARC Training Centre for Molecular Technology in the Food Industry. A molecular technology platform for enabling the next revolution in the food industry. Society needs new approaches for solving the difficulties of providing enough food for the future. This Training Centre will train young scientists in the application of applying molecular analysis skills to solve specific problems that the food industry faces in the whole process of taking food production from “field to fork”.

Markov decision processes continue to gain in popularity for modelling a wide range of applications ranging from analysis of supply chains and queueing networks to cognitive science and control of autonomous vehicles. Nonetheless, they tend to become numerically intractable as the size of the model grows fast. Recent works use machine learning techniques to overcome this crucial issue, but with no convergence guarantee. This project ....Large Markov decision processes and combinatorial optimisation. Protein-based medicines and vaccines represent the fastest growing sector of the pharmaceutical market, but their production by Australian small and medium enterprises is prohibited by the high infrastructure and operating costs of traditional manufacturing systems. Species that rapidly shift their range in response to climate change will not be unduly affected, whereas species that are stuck in one place are at extreme risk from a changing climate (they must either adapt, or perish).
