Powering optimisation of large, energy-efficient multihull vessels, operating at critical speeds. Australia is currently the world leader in the design and construction of large aluminium vessels. The existing fleet of vessels is under pressure from increased fuel prices and regulatory requirements to reduce emissions; this project directly addresses the need to develop new energy-efficient multihull vessels using computations and model testing.
The Silent Buildings of Willow Court: testing a new and innovative model for cultural heritage assessment. This pilot project is fuelled by an urgent need to assess the resources of the historic Willow Court Precinct, Australia's longest serving mental health facility (1827-2000). The 18-hectare Precinct, with its now abandoned buildings, is located in one of Australia's most economically deprived regions, Tasmania's Derwent River Valley. This will allow Australia's mining export industry, particularly small to medium sized companies in remote locations, to become more cost-efficient and environmentally friendly.
