Summary
The caregiver bereavement study: determining the effect of caregivers' anticipatory grief on post-bereavement outcome. The study discovers the 'true' impact of caregiving and is situated at the forefront of theoretical and methodological innovation. Furthermore, it will enhance the nation's capacity to provide appropriate services to caregivers pre- and post-bereavement which will promote the wellbeing of the large number of caregivers in our communities.

Hidden in the margins: the lives and trajectories of young carers. This project aims to examine the social, educational, economic and health-related experiences of young informal carers. One of the most unrecognised groups in Australian society, young carers are likely to experience enduring effects of their caring role across many domains. This project is particularly critical in light of the NDIS roll-out. Pathways to and through palliative care: a sociological study of patient, carer and clinician experiences at the end-of-life. Palliative care services provide care and support for families, carers and individuals trying to cope with the challenges presented at the end of life. This project will provide critical policy and practice-relevant data in order to improve our understanding of, and support for, the dying process in Australia.
Caring for older parents: Investigating the role of attachment security. The project aims to investigate the relationship between child–parent bonds and care for older parents. Children of older parents provide extensive and often unrecognised care to thousands of Australians, and many report excessive burden. The project aims to investigate how attachment bonds between adult children and older parents influence the parental care provided by children in later life, the carer burden and parents’ ....Caring for older parents: Investigating the role of attachment security. Caring for the carers: occupational health and safety in homecare. Homecare workers care for vulnerable clients but their own vulnerability to health and safety risks is seldom examined. Pilot research revealed unrecognised hazards arising from the isolated and fragmented nature of the work. This project will systematically identify hazards and develop interventions to promote healthier and safer homecare work.
