This project will analyse data following people over time to investigate the long-term health and employment consequences of poor psychosocial job quality, and consider the special case of mature age workers. This project aims to explain the changing patterns of regional economic performance across Australia between 2001-2011 in the context of two developments: major structural shifts in world trade and commodity prices spawning massive mining growth and negative exchange rate impacts elsewhere (for example, manufacturing); and the financial crisis ending the credit boom leaving east coast economies struggling. The meaning of rights across cultures: an exploration of the interpretation of the human rights framework in refugee settlement. This project will examine the meaning of rights for refugees and explore how the human rights framework is interpreted and applied to the experiences of settling refugees. This project will develop alternative modules of response to guide settlement policy and practice, and will inform theoretical understandings of the meaning of rights across cultures.
Improving contact between children in out-of-home care and their birth parents: developing and trialling a contact intervention. There is little evidence on how to best manage contact between the 37,648 children in care nationally and their birth parents. The aim of this project is to develop and trial a new model of contact which will reduce distress, improve children's relationships with their birth parents and increase successful reunifications in the long term.
