The suicide rate of Australian construction workers is 84 per cent higher than non-construction workers due to the high psychosocial risks involved. The quantification of these psychosocial risk factors and their interdependencies will enable effective strategies to be designed. The long-term impacts of this project include improving the mental health of the construction workforce, reducing suicide rates and mental health work compensation, enhancing employee productivity, and reducing accidents and injuries. Catastrophic Rock and Concrete Brittle Failures. Brittle rocks and concrete under extreme stresses fracture spontaneously and without pre-warning. In deep mining and tunnelling this causes fatalities, injuries and serious damage.
