With the rapid ageing of the Australian population, it is imperative that volunteer-based organisations, such as Meals on Wheels, innovate to continue to deliver essential community service ....Meals on Wheels: building towards a new social experiment for our times. Summary
Decision making in older people approaching the end of life. End of life care provides an ideal framework in which to explore the principle of individual autonomy and consumer decision making. Older people at a high risk of dying in 6 months will be recruited from acute care wards, and asked about preferences for involvement in end of life decision making in a standardised interview survey. Surrogate decision makers and physicians will be asked to answer the same questions from the patient's per ....Decision making in older people approaching the end of life. Rare childhood diseases have enormous impacts on children and families; health services, and health professionals. This project will enable Australia to lead the international research effort by using a coordinated approach to study the impacts of rare diseases in order to improve psychosocial, health and economic outcomes for children and families.
Fit for the future: safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the Australian nursing workforce to sustain future healthcare service delivery. Nursing shortages, occupational pressures, ageing and associated chronic ill health of the Australian nursing workforce threaten the ability of health services to meet Australia's health needs. This project will provide new information on nurses' health to support policy and practice intervention, increase capability and enhance workforce retention.
