Summary
Seeing the Black Child. This project aims to provide a deep understanding of the manner in which Black (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, African and Afro-diasporic) people understand their children’s situation. While dominant conceptions of childhood are typically assumed to be universal, they generally take the figure of the white child, emerging out of a predominantly European body of knowledge, as paradigmatic. This project aims to consider three very different physical theories, each of which reconciles quantum mechanics and general and special relativity in a different way. While science is more accessible than ever, we are increasingly faced with a scientific world-view that is antithetical to the way we see the world and experience ourselves in it. Data infrastructures, mobilities and network governance in education. Multiple data sets now drive education systems and schools. This project aims to investigate the role of data infrastructures in education policy, in schools, systems, nations and globally. The project will examine four related policy contexts in the Asia-Pacific region (Australia, Canada, Japan, and the United States of America) and the data mobilities flowing from the release of Programme for International Student Assessment ....Data infrastructures, mobilities and network governance in education. Multiple data sets now drive education systems and schools. This project aims to investigate the role of data infrastructures in education policy, in schools, systems, nations and globally. The project will examine four related policy contexts in the Asia-Pacific region (Australia, Canada, Japan, and the United States of America) and the data mobilities flowing from the release of Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2015. New knowledge is expected to be developed on the concepts of data infrastructure and data mobility; how data create new spatialised modes of educational governance; and how relations between governments, Non-Government Organisations and corporations are reconfigured through data use. Trust in a social and digital world. This project aims to provide a systematic and empirically-informed account of the way networks facilitate or hinder knowledge. Distinguishing on-line information from disinformation can be difficult. This task can be greatly assisted by networks of trusted peers, but figuring out who to trust is itself a challenge. Identifying, designing, and facilitating networks of trust is therefore an urgent task. By using the tools of social epistemology, virtue epistemo ....Trust in a social and digital world. Foundations of the common law library. This project aims to build a comprehensive, historical, legal resource for the whole common law world, 1215-1914. The free access ‘Foundations of Common Law Library’ will include reported cases from superior courts, and selected others, in all common law jurisdictions. Databases of other key materials such as treatises, legislation, and treaties, will also be added wherever possible. Databases of case law extracted from newspaper reports, prior to formal la ....Foundations of the common law library. The Australasian legal history libraries stage II: Australia's leading legal historians will partner with the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) to create a massive expansion of free online access to Australasian legal history through digitisation and data aggregation. The Legal History Libraries on AustLII will become a comprehensive trans-Tasman collection from 1788-1999, including all reported case series and those from colon ....The Australasian Legal History Libraries: Stage II. The Australasian legal history libraries stage II: Australia's leading legal historians will partner with the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) to create a massive expansion of free online access to Australasian legal history through digitisation and data aggregation. The Legal History Libraries on AustLII will become a comprehensive trans-Tasman collection from 1788-1999, including all reported case series and those from colonial newspaper reports, and all Acts enacted, plus key collections of historical Bills, Gazettes, legal commentaries, and Parliamentary reports. The Libraries are expected to double in size from their current 50,000 items of cases and legislation.
