Locating the mobile: intergenerational locative media practices in Tokyo, Melbourne and Shanghai. From providing convenience at a fingertip to helping criminal investigations, using locative media has become an essential part of everyday life for individuals, families, businesses and government. Responding to this nascent phenomenon, this project will provide the first cross-cultural, intergenerational study of locative media use.
Grey literature, policy innovation and access to knowledge: realising the value of informal publishing. This project examines the growth of informal research publishing, 'grey literature' in Australia, and the policies and practices that shape it. The project will make recommendations for producers, collecting institutions and policy-makers on how to maximise the considerable social and cultural benefit of 'grey literature'.

The facility will allow the fabrication of a range of active and passive devices including photonic integrated circuits. The main aim of this project is to establish a state-of-the-art optical and electronic coatings facility for the Australian optoelectronics and nanotechnology research community to develop novel technologies of interest to communications, information technology and nanotechnology industries. The facility will allow the fabrication of a range of active and passive devices including photonic integrated circuits. The facility is flexible enough to allow the deposition of a range of dielectric and metal layers with different structural, optical and electrical characteristics of fundamental as well as applied interest. This facility may open up new opportunities to develop microcavities, nanocrystals, tunable lasers and detectors, novel cantilevers for atomic force microscopy.
