Everyday Heritage. This project aims to uncover everyday but overlooked forms of Australian heritage. Working collaboratively to bridge academic and industry practice, it seeks to develop innovative methods with outcomes expected to include enhanced collaboration between heritage, digital humanities, and historical research, and new resources for communities and the heritage sector. This should provide significant social and cultural benefits such as more inclusive forms of heritage, and broader ....Everyday Heritage. Mammal declines in northern Australia: science for conservation and recovery. Australia’s unique mammal fauna is a rich biological heritage for the nation. It provides a wealth of ecosystem services, and many mammal species have special cultural or aesthetic value. However, our mammals are sadly depleted, and we already have the worst record of recent mammal extinction of any nation. Species redundancy in response to multiple disturbances. This project aims to elucidate how the context within which disturbances occur affects food web linkages and how these map to responses in ecosystem function. There is a critical need to test the common assumption in environmental management that high biodiversity makes ecosystems resilient to disturbances. Studies that merely observe biodiversity change after disturbance cannot identify ecological processes connecting high diversity and e ....Species redundancy in response to multiple disturbances. Pyroherbivory and the nexus between Aboriginal fire mosaics and kangaroos. This project aims to examine the effects of traditional Aboriginal and contemporary fire management on kangaroo abundance. There is concern that the cessation of Aboriginal patch burning is causing savanna kangaroo populations to decline across northern Australia. The project first aims to extend field datasets on the density and distribution of thousands of marine fishes, invertebrates and macro-algae. Enquirers from across the research, education and library sectors will be able to access the results of decades of scholarship in Australian literary, theatre, critical and Indigenous culture. Senior and emerging ....AustLit: Phase Two - humanities research infrastructure development, augmentation and expansion. With ARC support, the university and library collaborators will deliver a unique national information service revealing the wealth of Australian's literary and cultural endeavours over time. Enquirers from across the research, education and library sectors will be able to access the results of decades of scholarship in Australian literary, theatre, critical and Indigenous culture. Senior and emerging researchers will be able to continue building AustLit over time, using the infrastructure as a source of existing information to interrogate, and as a repository for new data that can be analysed and enhanced as research in new areas is pursued.
