Police corruption: an underestimated legitimacy and security risk. This project analyses police corruption in four states and makes recommendations for reducing it. While most states now recognise corruption as a problem, many are reluctant to address the issue of police corruption; yet when police officers collude with organised crime (for example, in drugs or arms trafficking), corruption can be a serious security risk.
Technology facilitated sexual violence and harassment: violence against women in cyberspace and the implications for legislative and policy reform. This project will investigate technology facilitated sexual violence and harassment. It will provide a comprehensive assessment of the nature, scope and impacts of these harms, and develop recommendations for law and policy reform based on rigorous empirical evidence.

Without concrete evidence, governments often act on the assumption that the public holds punitive attitudes. This project is expected to develop an evidence base to inform policy on parole at a crucial time when governments are under pressure to restrict its use. Drawing on a longitudinal study of Brisbane suburbs, it will critically assess the conditions under which suburban communities respond to and recover from a major disaster.
