Visualising venues in Australian live performance research. This project aims to construct a two- and three-dimensional visual interface and digital curatorial space, improving the existing AusStage open-access live performance database. This project will internationalise AusStage by: developing new methodologies for analysing aesthetic transmission between Australian and international artists; collaborating with international partners to share data and enable research across national borders; and extending the data set to support research on global markets, international distribution and cultural diplomacy. AusStage LIEF 7: The international breakthrough . The aim of AusStage LIEF 7 is to enhance the world's oldest and most extensive national dataset on live performance. The project expects to maximise research arising from the global flow of data now accessible following the adoption of the AusStage schema by Norway, the UK, and potentially, China. Expected outcomes include improvements to the AusStage user interface; adaptation of the AusStage schema to support longitudinal studies of the impact ....AusStage LIEF 7: The international breakthrough . Minutes of Evidence project: promoting new and collaborative ways of understanding Australia's past and engaging with structural justice. Bringing together researchers, theatre performers and education experts, this project heightens awareness of Australian history and sparks public conversations within, and between, Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, placing Australia at the forefront of international ways of addressing the questions of structural justice and reconciliation.
Performing nations and cultures: rethinking authenticity in the performing arts. This project examines how notions of cultural authenticity have been deployed and changed over time within national and transnational contexts in relation to cross-cultural performances produced by Indigenous Australians and American Indian people between 1800-1950. This research offers a new perspective on Australian and US cultural histories.
Reclaiming indigenous performance in southeast Australia, 1935-75. This project aims to reframe a period of Australian history, the Assimilation era (1935-1975), to demonstrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders' active intervention in public affairs through performances of music and dance. The project will collaborate with present-day communities aiming to construct an alternative history of cultural resilience and agency.
