This project aims to enhance understanding of the existing and unique knowledges in rural, regional and remote communities and how these can be used to enhance achievement in contemporary, metropolitan-focused, education. The global COVID 19 pandemic represents a unique opportunity to understand the nature and potential of Indigenous sustainable development in Pacific Island communities, where Indigenous practices have been central in responses to closed borders and industry downturns. This project proposes to analyse the efficacy and cultural value of new, pandemic-era Indigenous sustainable development initiatives in sustaining island communities ....Indigenous solutions to global challenges in the Pacific Islands. This project aims to investigate links between teacher educators’ reflexive decision making and the preparation of teachers for teaching in socially and culturally diverse Australian classrooms. The project takes a transdisciplinary approach, bridging the fields of epistemic cognition and reflexive decision making, to explore how rigorous teaching can be enacted in socially and culturally diverse classrooms. This project aims to investigate school-based teaching policies and practices using innovative design-based research, to collaboratively develop quality teaching that meets complex, contextual student needs in high poverty communities. Teachers' work in primary schools in high poverty areas is increasingly driven by standards and testing demands. High levels of teacher anxiety and fatigue are apparent in such schools. This project aims to investigate the role of data infrastructures in education policy, in schools, systems, nations and globally. The project will examine four related policy contexts in the Asia-Pacific region (Australia, Canada, Japan, and the United States of America) and the data mobilities flowing from the release of Programme for International Student Assessment ....Data infrastructures, mobilities and network governance in education. Multiple data sets now drive education systems and schools. This project aims to investigate the role of data infrastructures in education policy, in schools, systems, nations and globally. The project will examine four related policy contexts in the Asia-Pacific region (Australia, Canada, Japan, and the United States of America) and the data mobilities flowing from the release of Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2015. New knowledge is expected to be developed on the concepts of data infrastructure and data mobility; how data create new spatialised modes of educational governance; and how relations between governments, Non-Government Organisations and corporations are reconfigured through data use. This project aims to develop a new understanding of racism’s deep impact on one’s sense of self, and sense of place. The project seeks to use the emerging framework of critical phenomenology to illuminate different experiences of racialised non-belonging. These schools provide a second chance at education for young people with challenging behaviours and/or learning problems. This project expects to generate new knowledge about the experiences and needs of these teachers, using a combination of in-depth research methods. Expected outcomes include detailed understanding of support needs for this workforce. This will significantly benefit teachers, sponsors and principals through recommendations on best practice management of this important work, along with evidence-based training artefacts for staff recruitment and retention.

Violence against women is twice the global average in Pacific Island Communities, yet most approaches about how to police it have come from the Global North. This project addresses this mismatch by discovering new ways to improve the policing of gender violence by testing unique models of women led policing. Expected outcomes include new evidence to improve the policing of gender violence, enhance victim's experiences, and to reform ....Improving the Policing of Gender Violence in the Global South. This project addresses this mismatch by discovering new ways to improve the policing of gender violence by testing unique models of women led policing.
