Predicting the diagnostic performance of individuals and organisations. Predicting the diagnostic performance of individuals and organisations. This project aims to address diagnostic error in advanced technology systems, by providing a mechanism to assess and improve individual diagnosticians’ performance. Organisations that rely on their employees’ diagnostic skills rarely assess them once the operators become qualified, so there is no basis for interventions that might prevent diagnostic errors affecting thousands. This research tests a new method of assessing diagnostic skills based on how skilled operators respond to cues. This project will test how employees’ diagnostic skills change and whether this change corresponds to measures of organisational performance. This research is expected to provide organisations with a tool to pre-empt diagnostic errors that could minimise costs to the economy.

Understanding the interaction between the birds and the bulbs is critical to respond effectively to past and threatened losses of important sedge habitats to sea level rise. This knowledge will inform management of the Kakadu World Heritage Site and an iconic waterfowl of great cultural and economic significance. In addition to their importance as a Gondwanan relic and sole member of the Family Anseranatidae, the species is an important food-source for Aboriginal people, and tourists travel to the Kakadu wetlands to witness huge dry season congregations.

Developing an Integrative Approach to Sustaining Indigenous Tourism and Cultural Heritage Management in the Top End of Australia. This project aims to assess economic, ecological and socio-cultural impacts and sustainability of Indigenous tourism, compared with other Top End land uses. The Darwin region will be used as a case study to provide the traditional owners, the Larrakia, with information on the feasibility of incorporating cultural heritage management with Indigenous tourism, by assessing the scientific and cultural significance, conservation needs and likely tourism interest of cultural heritage sites around Darwin. The international literature and history of Indigenous Tourism will be reviewed to identify markets, and examine policy and practice of government strategies in terms of Indigenous participation and links between mainstream Cultural Tourism, Indigenous Tourism and Indigenous rural industry. A case study database will be built to identify factors that contribute to success of Indigenous tourism projects in the Top End.

Incentivising On Country Aboriginal Employment: Anangu Futures. . This project aims to investigate the changing face of cultural tourism in central Australia and examine pathways towards sustainable aboriginal employment in and around Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The project is significant because it brings together Aboriginal community members, industry and government stakeholders to identify micro-business opportunities, youth training initiatives, better relations across cultural divides, and the economic value of Aboriginal knowledge.
