Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment And Facilities - Grant ID: LE0989351

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $425,000.00
    Summary
High Resolution Mass Spectrometry Facility. The research that will be supported by this vital infrastructure impacts on the sustainable environment through understanding the process of seed germination and the human condition through new drugs for the treatment of cancer and Parkinson's disease. Fundamental science will also be addressed particularly in the fields of photonics and the nature of interactions between matter.

    $485,000.00
    Summary
Western Australian Facility for High Throughput Biological and Organic Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. Disciplines such as pharmaceuticals, plant protection, mineral extraction, and conservation all need to separate, identify and quantify molecules. The method of choice for small molecules (< 500 amu) is gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A broad range of laboratories in WA are using GC-MS, but the equipment is fully utilised, outdated and limiting progress. This applicatio .... This application seeks to purchase research grade GC-MS equipment with order-of-magnitude improvements in mass range, sample throughput, discrimination and data handling capacities. This equipment will transform capabilities and will enhance projects supporting the minerals and agricultural industries and enhance biodiversity conservation efforts.

Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment And Facilities - Grant ID: LE110100119

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $370,000.00
    Summary
Advanced gas chromatography mass spectrometry instrumentation for the analysis of highly complex systems. Advanced instrumentation is required for analysis of the composition of highly complex samples derived from plants, soil, petroleum, water, food and wine. Sample analyses like these form the basis of many applied science research programs. This equipment will offer improved analytical capability and sensitivity, which will enhance the scale and scope of research that can be undertaken.
