Building and supporting community led partnership initiatives to respond to Indigenous family violence in Victoria. This project contributes to the evidence base of responses to Indigenous family violence by detailing models of practice in Victoria. It will focus on how partnerships between Indigenous and mainstream responses can be built and sustained. The critical analysis of these models of practice and partnerships will also have implications for future policy and funding directions. It will provide important information on how we can assist adolescents to maintain a healthy lifestyle over a time characterised by several major life changes.
From risk factor analysis to translation: multiple sclerosis and vitamin D deficiency. This research on multiple sclerosis will focus on its causes and lifestyle factors that affect it and will trial vitamin D supplementation as a treatment. Studies on vitamin D deficiency in healthy populations aim to develop new public health recommendations on sun exposure and vitamin D that balance risk of skin cancer against vitamin D deficiency.
Does binocular vision training enhance literacy among primary school children with poor reading? One in ten Australian children can not read well despite adequate intelligence and opportunity. This project aims to find out the extent that these reading problems reflect poor binocular vision (the eyes not working well together) and evaluate new treatments.
Navigating an uncertain antimicrobial future: a sociological study. This project aims to develop a unique understanding of what governs antibiotic use in the health sector and how it can be governed more effectively. The project will critically assess the implementation of governance, and how regulatory and legislative environments may resonate or contrast with the demands of practice. This will support the development of strategies to improve antibiotic use and reduce resistance.
