Summary
The passion, power, and politics of Aboriginal Art: established artists and emerging NSW women artists' perceptions and representational bias in collections. This project will conduct an in-depth analysis of the perspectives of established artists and emerging NSW Aboriginal women artists about the passion, power and politics of Aboriginal art and test the extent of collection bias of NSW artists' works. Political history of the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Rights Act, 1983. The story of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (ALRA) that established the land councils, made provisions for land recovery and enterprises, and reshaped Aboriginal people's relationship with the state has not been told. The ALRA initiated a new policy era of self-determination through the three-tier Aboriginal Land Council Network mechanism for land recovery and 15 year compensation fund to support the network and develop ....Political history of the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Rights Act, 1983. Aboriginal Land Councils have become significant land holders - 81367 hectares valued at over $2billion and investment. Planning the 'creative' city: reconciling global strategies with local subcultures. Increasing land values in all major Australian cities are placing pressure on local creative initiatives. Displacement of small cultural producers and the consequent dispersal of local networks is damaging to the urban social and economic fabric. This research will assess the challenges to strong and thriving creative subcultures in gentrifying cities. By identifying cases of best practice in Australia, and with ....Planning the 'creative' city: reconciling global strategies with local subcultures. This project examines the capacity of multicultural arts to promote a sense of belonging within culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Through its study of arts policy, production, and consumption at three levels of government it will generate a new framework for evaluating the significance of multiculturalism.

Recalibrating culture: production, consumption, policy. Over the last decade the number of Australians engaging in paid or unpaid cultural activity increased by over 50 per cent. This project will address this major change in cultural production and consumption through a Greater Western Sydney case-study, thus developing an innovative cultural policy tailored to Australia's dynamic new cultural economy.

Religion and Urban Development in India: Planning Sustainable Cities. This project argues that religion influences urban development in India, and must inform policy. India's scale and speed of urbanisation makes its sustainable urban development critical globally, yet modernist urban planning has failed to address slum growth, poverty, gender inequality and ecological crises. Using interviews, archival research and fieldwork in six walled cities that clearly display the interactions of religion ....Religion and Urban Development in India: Planning Sustainable Cities. There currently is a paucity of data and, therefore a poor level of knowledge, about the factors that contribute to the successful operations of SMTEs. Consequently, there has been a high failure rate of Aboriginal tourism enterprises.
