The research significance of this project is in its treatment of worker skills as an indivisible bundle. This bundling of skills gives rise to the possibility that a given skill is priced differently in different occupations which in turn has implications for firms' incentives to invest in technology and training and workers' incentives to invest in education.
This project uses state of the art economic theory and empirical methods and expects to provide a new and better understanding of the sources of wage growth that helps guide national policy formation in innovation and training.

This project aims to investigate how technological progress, its dissemination and heterogeneous adoption, shapes our economy and affects individual wellbeing. New technologies often complement certain workers, tasks or sectoral activities. This project will focus on the complementarities associated with a range of skills and age or experience of workers, and will model the dynamics and heterogeneous effects of technological changes. The Project will generate new knowledge on how social assistance dependence is linked across generations using new Australian data. The project seeks to investigate the mechanisms behind differential development, intergenerational transmission of NCS between "rich and poor," how exposure to economic stress inhibits NCS development and the role of schooling in boosting NCS of disadvantaged children.
