Identifying And Addressing Gaps In Australia’s Adolescent HPV Vaccination Program
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$689,723.00
Summary
Australia was the first country to implement a national vaccination program for human papillomavirus (HPV) which is the primary cause of cervical cancer. However national vaccination coverage remains suboptimal at 77% in girls. Through a partnership between researchers and health departments (Tasmania, Western Australia and New South Wales) we will conduct research to determine barriers to vaccination and evaluate the cost and impact of innovative strategies to increase vaccination coverage.
Best Evidence To Best Practice: Implementing An Innovative Model Of Care For Nutritional Management Of Patients With Head And Neck Cancer
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$276,250.00
Summary
This project aims to implement and evaluate an innovative best-practice dietetic model of care (MOC) based on published Evidence Based Guidelines for Nutritional Management of Patients with Head and Neck Cancer. Through integration with the multidisciplinary team, the MOC will take a patient-centred approach to delivery of nutritional care to minimise the detrimental sequelae of malnutrition and improve outcomes in this complex patient group.

The success and continuation of science programs in upper secondary school and university is dependent on foundational improvements in science education in lower secondary schools. This proposal is designed to address this national concern by fostering talent in science and encouraging more students to study and enjoy science in a meaningful way. Through planned formative assessment, teachers will enable students in Years 8-10 to think about the science concepts and consider alternative explanations rather than memorise basic facts for a test or examination which are then forgotten. Practical benefits are a large range of valid and reliable tests and a range of teaching approaches for diagnosing student learning difficulties.Read moreRead less
A major focus on weight gain prevention is urgently needed in all population groups and settings. This research program will identify the key success factors related to the implementation of preventative health programs into community settings in Australia and internationally. Research in translation and scale-up activities will generate an understanding of how preventive interventions work within real world conditions and expedite interventions into practice.

A Pilot Dementia Clinical Quality Registry To Improve Dementia Clinical Care
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$1,571,501.00
Summary
Clinical Quality Registries collect health data about the quality of clinical care and assist the implementation and monitoring of clinical guidelines into practice. Registries can identify variations in clinical care across geographical areas, facilitate further research into a condition, and help refine and develop new guidelines over time. This proposal will test procedures and pilot a clinical quality registry for dementia, using data from a well-characterised cohort.
