China's Asia-Pacific Century: Enhancing Australia's Engagement. The emerging regional economic sphere of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, encompassing close to a quarter of humankind, is fast becoming one of the world's two major powerhouses--and a potential locus for international conflict. Australia contains a very large and robust field of hundreds of modern China specialists--as many as all of Europe--but we are very spread out geographically and divided among twenty disciplines. Under the 1998 Rome Statute it is a crime against humanity, a war crime and an act of genocide. Do no harm: Sexual exploitation and abuse in humanitarian operations. This project aims to conduct the first systematic study of the nature, scale and impacts of sexual exploitation and abuse by civilian interveners in humanitarian operations. It will generate data on the nature and effects of such abuses and evaluate current policy responses. Expected outcomes include an enhanced understanding of this misconduct and how intervener behaviours affect the outcomes of international operations, the ....Do no harm: Sexual exploitation and abuse in humanitarian operations. Women’s participation in peace processes makes a successful peace agreement likelier, but may not consolidate peace or lead to greater participation by women in the governance of the country.
