The Australasian Legal History Libraries: Stage II. The Australasian legal history libraries stage II: Australia's leading legal historians will partner with the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) to create a massive expansion of free online access to Australasian legal history through digitisation and data aggregation. The Legal History Libraries on AustLII will become a comprehensive trans-Tasman collection from 1788-1999, including all reported case series and those from colon ....The Australasian Legal History Libraries: Stage II. The Australasian legal history libraries stage II: Australia's leading legal historians will partner with the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) to create a massive expansion of free online access to Australasian legal history through digitisation and data aggregation. The Legal History Libraries on AustLII will become a comprehensive trans-Tasman collection from 1788-1999, including all reported case series and those from colonial newspaper reports, and all Acts enacted, plus key collections of historical Bills, Gazettes, legal commentaries, and Parliamentary reports. The Libraries are expected to double in size from their current 50,000 items of cases and legislation. Testimony of sexual abuse before the current Royal Commission has exposed the historic neglect and cover-up of institutional offences. Yet, to unearth the deeper and wider dimensions of sexual offending requires scholarly historical analysis. Judging the past in a post-Cold War world. What are the consequences of the end of the Cold War? How do we make sense of the post-war world, apportion blame, redress wrongs and find a path to the future? This project will investigate the consequences of the most important international event since the end of the Second World War in four countries on the 'front-line' of the Cold War: Spain, Indonesia, Chile and France.
Minutes of Evidence project: promoting new and collaborative ways of understanding Australia's past and engaging with structural justice. Bringing together researchers, theatre performers and education experts, this project heightens awareness of Australian history and sparks public conversations within, and between, Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, placing Australia at the forefront of international ways of addressing the questions of structural justice and reconciliation.
Agreements, Treaties and Negotiated Settlements with Indigenous Peoples in Settler States: their role and relevance for Indigenous and other Australians. The project aims to examine treaty and agreement making with Indigenous Australians, including legal history and foundations, and the nature of the legal rights encompassed by agreements and treaties. The response to coronavirus has starkly revealed the significance of internal movement and its regulation. Yet the focus of scholarship on medico-legal border control remains almost exclusively on international movement. This project addresses that major gap by researching the regulation of internal movement in past and present pandemic times, with a focus on plague, influenza, SARS and coronavirus in Australia, and in comparison with Hong Kong. It will interrogate the ambiguous internal/international borders of ships in quarantine in the past and in the coronavirus present. Victorian Ethnographers: collecting and contesting racial knowledge in the settler colonial laboratory. Using new archival and museum collections, 'Victorian Ethnographers' investigates the connections between anthropology, the governance of Aboriginal peoples and the history of colonialism in south-eastern Australia. This project will produce new knowledge about the local and global networks that shaped Victorian anthropology and its legacies.

With the emergence of Asia, the political control of 'rare earths' vital to high-tech industries has prompted international diplomatic and commercial concern. This project explores the history of 'strategic minerals' and assesses the role of minerals policy in achieving both 'mineral security' and environmental sustainability.
