New media dramaturgy will formulate a new framework for analysing and creating contemporary new media performance including multimedia theatre and dance, video performance and installation. The project will also explore how the synthesis of new dramaturgy and new media has changed the experience of live arts for the spectator.

Controlling interactive music performance: enhancing live performances by human musicians and algorithmic computer systems. This project will investigate techniques for the control of computer music systems during performances with a musician. It will identify and evaluate parameters and patterns for expressive variation of music algorithms, contribute new theories of music representation, and provide insights into human interactions with semi-autonomous technologies.
Music can speak for you: making music with a deep net partner. This project aims to develop and evaluate a novel computational partner to aid composers and non-musicians to make personal music. One computational component learns to output musical structures that another component moulds towards user-desired features while encouraging innovation and exploration. Listeners’ evaluation of the musical outputs in terms of affect will be analysed, potentially allowing us to extend current music genera ....Music can speak for you: making music with a deep net partner. This project will examine the forms and prevalence of violent music; its short- and long-term effects on aggression, emotional states and cognitive function; and neurological correlates of engagement with violent music. Music with violent themes is often blamed for antisocial or criminal behaviour, but we have little scientific understanding of the extent to which violent music interacts with social attitudes, emotions, actions ....Violent music: social, psychological, and neurological implications.
