By considering their relationship to broader Western concerns, this project examines the deep cultural origins of Australian masculinity and national identity. Much of the bush myth and the Anzac legend are grounded in assumptions that `true' manhood thrives outside of soft, sedentary and unhealthy cities, either in playing fields, battlefields, or the bush. Sexual Technologies and Reproductive Powers. The project is to investigate the impact of the new reproductive technologies on the concepts of the sexual relation. The derivation of concepts of sexual equality, and their relation and dependence on technology will be examined. Using the theoretical perspectives of European philosophy, in conjunction with contemporary feminist philosophy, the direction of change in concepts will be investigated.
Missing workers: retaining mature age women workers to ensure future labour security. This project will generate new data and analyses of the factors affecting the retention of mature age women in paid work. It will produce an evidence base on mature age women's employment for the development of policy frameworks aimed at strengthening labour security in the aged care and other sectors.
