The Australian e-Humanities Research Network: Leveraging Digital Scholarship in the Humanities. Australian humanities researchers, many of them world leaders, are increasingly adopting digital technologies to create scholarly resources in a range of disciplines. It is imperative to provide scale and focus for such diverse, innovative research. Copyright and Cultural Institutions: Digitising Collections in Public Museums, Galleries and Libraries. Digital technology gives cultural institutions significant new avenues for research, preservation and public access to collections, but also raises substantial issues about copyright management. This project investigates how museums, galleries and libraries are digitising material under Australian copyright law. Legal and sociological research involving collaboration with six leading cultura ....Copyright and Cultural Institutions: Digitising Collections in Public Museums, Galleries and Libraries. Digital technology gives cultural institutions significant new avenues for research, preservation and public access to collections, but also raises substantial issues about copyright management. This project investigates how museums, galleries and libraries are digitising material under Australian copyright law. Legal and sociological research involving collaboration with six leading cultural institutions will produce digitisation guidelines facilitating appropriate copyright management, and will underlie an evaluation of copyright law and industry practice. Based on a conceptual framework originated by Joan Kerr in her Dictionary of Australian Artists, the DAAO integrates existing online research with information updated continuously by editorial amendment from new entries generated in scholarly research. The National collecting institutions (the National Archives of Australia, the National Museum of Australia,Screen Sound Australia, the National Library of Australia, and the Australian War Memorial) have collections important to our national heritage on paper, photographic film and other media which they are required by law to preserve for future generations of Australians.
