Private Sector Workplace Employment Programs for Indigenous Australians. The research examines the workplace programs aimed at Indigenous employment in the top 50 companies in Australia. It identifies workplace conditions and policies that govern the success of such programs and provides a benchmark for workplace program development to assist Indigenous Australians, one of the most disadvantaged groups in the labour market.
Facilitating workplace change: Redefining the role of industrial tribunals in Australia. Amendments to the Fair Work Act 2009 passed in 2013 have the potential to re-define the role of Australia’s national workplace relations tribunal, the Fair Work Commission, by requiring it to promote cooperative and productive workplace relations. Working at the margin: the consequences of non-standard employment. This project plans to use survey data tracking Australians through time to examine the impacts of non-standard employment on labour market outcomes and on their health and wellbeing. Around 40 per cent of Australian workers are in non-standard forms of employment. Such jobs are typically associated with job insecurity, unpredictable working hours, and limited opportunities for career progression, which can all negatively affect ....Working at the margin: the consequences of non-standard employment. Around 40 per cent of Australian workers are in non-standard forms of employment. Such jobs are typically associated with job insecurity, unpredictable working hours, and limited opportunities for career progression, which can all negatively affect worker wellbeing and long-term employment prospects. But such jobs can also serve as a crucial entry point into the labour market, and for some workers may be a better match with personal preferences.
