Examining the social, historical and political effects of school discipline. This project aims to examine the history and socio-political context of the school element of the ‘school-to-prison pipeline’ in Victoria through an examination of school discipline. This project expects to build vital knowledge of the relationship between school discipline and racialised school exclusion through historical accounts, policy analysis, interviews and focus group research. Childhood maltreatment and late modernity: public inquiries, social justice and education. This project is an historical sociological study, which examines the unfolding Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse alongside past Inquiries into child maltreatment. It explores how changing understandings of children's development, vulnerability and rights have shaped social policy, educational responses and public attitudes towards safeguarding children and promoting their ....Childhood maltreatment and late modernity: public inquiries, social justice and education. Through case studies and theoretical innovation, this project seeks to counter this by showing that the human always has a transcendent quality, one highlighted by humanity's relation to the image.
Youth identity and educational change in Australia since 1950: digital archiving, re-using qualitative data and histories of the present. This is an historical and longitudinal study of Australian youth and education since the 1950s. It creates a digital archive of the study for future researchers and re-examines earlier qualitative studies to better understand generational changes in youth pathways and educational inequalities.

Scientific innovations can profoundly shape the well-being of society, especially where new technologies promise radical transformations. Yet how technologies move from evidence to practice remains little understood. This project develops an approach that understands the complexity of translating technologies into practice and investigates how evidence-making ....Evidence-making and implementing interventions in a viral elimination era. Yet how technologies move from evidence to practice remains little understood. It generates new knowledge through a world-first study of the implementation of interventions using the cases of hepatitis C and HIV elimination. Financialisation – the growing presence of financial firms in contemporary economic relations – is an increasingly important, yet poorly understood, concept. Its application to food and farming industries is very recent. By investigating which countries and foreign firms are purchasing food companies and farmlands, for what purposes, and with what outcomes, the project intends to ascertain the place of financialisation in the emergence of a third food regime and to clarify issues of ownership and control of Australia’s agri-food resources. This would provide policy-makers and the public with accurate information with which to assess whether agri-food investments strengthen national food security, provide positive benefits to rural communities, and comply with national investment guidelines.Read moreRead less
