This project will analyse the benefits and complexities of home internet in three remote Indigenous communities by examining the social, economic, cultural and technical factors influencing take-up and use.

The project will determine savannah function (carbon and water balance) for the present and assess how sensitive they have been to past climate variability. Regular intermittent, high intensity physical activity (IHIA) affords protection against modern life-style diseases (type II diabetes, coronary heart disease and some cancers) but when conducted in the tropics, exposes persons to the risk of dehydration, heat cramps, hypotension, heat syncope, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Digital noticeboards for remote Aboriginal communities: bringing web 2.0 participation to non-western cultures with low English and technical literacy. Remote Aboriginal communities suffer from geographic and cultural isolation. Web 2.0 offers a solution yet is ill-suited to traditional collective cultures, those with low English and technical literacy, and the poor. This project will produce novel public web-enabled touchscreen noticeboards and table tops suited to traditional cultures.

Indigenous peoples have always undertaken extensive travel and movement, but colonisation brought new reasons for travel and new Indigenous peoples from New Zealand and the Pacific to Australia. Historians have not yet fully grappled with these histories. These migrations and journeys always traversed Indigenous geographies. Bringing Indigenous perspectives and ethical methodologies to an analysis of mobilities, we aim to ....Indigenous mobilities to and through Australia: agency and sovereignties. This project aims to explain the changing patterns of regional economic performance across Australia between 2001-2011 in the context of two developments: major structural shifts in world trade and commodity prices spawning massive mining growth and negative exchange rate impacts elsewhere (for example, manufacturing); and the financial crisis ending the credit boom leaving east coast economies struggling.
