Plain language practices in an Australian local government organisation. Governments have unsuccessfully tried to eliminate bureaucratic language from their documents for many years. This project will examine a local government organisation's writing practices to discover why plain language has not been achieved and recommend strategies to address the problem in the researched organisation and at a broader scale.

This project tells the story of the Queensland land rights struggle through the eyes of Indigenous participants, their media and the broader newspaper industry. Its key public outcome is a multi-faceted book on the land rights movement; and new methodological and critical media analysis contributions to community media research.

This project will address the challenge to effectively target regional arts funding to programs and activities that build capacity and have lasting impact for end-users. Because teachers are generally non-Indigenous, inexperienced and stay for less than two years and Indigenous teacher aides have little training in teaching mathematics, schools do not the capacity to affect this outcome. However this requires addition design costs which currently represent a barrier to the uptake of this transforming technology. This project will overcome this by developing a flexible framework that allows the benefits gained across the life cycle of a project through using 4D CAD to be set against the additional costs and thus make this emerging technology more attractive to industry.
