Summary
A modern profession: the Australian air hostess/flight attendant 1936 - 1984. This project describes the emergence of a new profession in Australia: the air hostess/flight attendant. It documents and analyses the recruitment and working experience of flight attendants with the aim of acknowledging their contribution to the industry, and analysing how their life at work helped forge a modern image of Australia and Australian women.
What is life like for babies and toddlers in childcare? Understanding the 'lived experience' of infants through innovative mosaic methodology. High quality childcare provision is a continuing policy challenge for the Australian Government. Lack of public confidence in childcare contributes to Australia's relatively low female workforce participation and constrains economic growth. This study will increase public, professional and parental knowledge of what life in childcare is like for infants; ....What is life like for babies and toddlers in childcare? Landlords, Tenants and Access to Justice: A Longitudinal Study of Residential Tenancies Disputes. The proposed research will compare the strikingly different justice regimes governing residential tenancy disputes over the last 3 decades in New South Wales. These regimes have ranged from the exclusively formal, or court-based, to a hybrid model (with some matters resolved by tribunals, others by the courts) and finally to an almost exclusively tribunal-governed system. This harm is implicated in early retirement, sick leave and suicide. It threatens appropriate courtroom conduct, procedural fairness and impartial adjudication. A collaboration to study organisational and social factors of work practice change to reduce risk of harm in healthcare. Preventing harm is a national priority in healthcare and research. Recent studies that quantified the extent of healthcare error has focussed policy attention on technical solutions to manage risk. This focus has not brought hoped-for sustainable improvement because the often-invisible environmental barriers to change have not been identified and addressed. A cross-disciplin ....A collaboration to study organisational and social factors of work practice change to reduce risk of harm in healthcare. Preventing harm is a national priority in healthcare and research. Recent studies that quantified the extent of healthcare error has focussed policy attention on technical solutions to manage risk. A cross-disciplinary collaboration of academics, consumers and industry partners will link to investigate the organisational, social and psychological factors that facilitate or impede change and the conditions under which sustainable improvement can be achieved.
