Ageing, home and housing security among single, asset-poor older women. This project aims to investigate the stability of single older women's senses of home, security and belonging as they negotiate asset and income insecurity. It examines: how national and housing-provider scale housing policy and governance frameworks shape the ways that older women experience and make decisions about the home; and how the home is affected by housing mobility. Using a housing pathways approach, the project aims to develop knowledge of how housing markets and supply affect, and are shaped by, homemaking cultures and practices. By building a comprehensive model of offender mobility, we will better able to describe what influences burglar preferences about where and when to commit crime. This understanding will enable the development of more effective crime prevention projects.

This project aims to examine the potential impacts of a recent and major evolution in the law of the sea on the capacity of islands to generate broad maritime claims, with particular reference to the Pacific Island countries. Modelling the Causes of Regional Disparities across Australia. This project aims to explain the changing patterns of regional economic performance across Australia between 2001-2011 in the context of two developments: major structural shifts in world trade and commodity prices spawning massive mining growth and negative exchange rate impacts elsewhere (for example, manufacturing); and the financial crisis ending the credit boom leaving east coast economies struggling. Twenty-first century urban renewal: rethinking Australian planning and building regulations and their effects on the life of the city. This project compares legislative, regulatory and financing approaches to large scale urban renewal projects in Germany, Canada and Australia. It assesses their varying capacities to enable socially diverse uses of inner cities, and will advise on ways of reducing the place-based social divisions that are increasing as Australian cities expand.
