Summary
A collaboration to study organisational and social factors of work practice change to reduce risk of harm in healthcare. Preventing harm is a national priority in healthcare and research. Recent studies that quantified the extent of healthcare error has focussed policy attention on technical solutions to manage risk. This focus has not brought hoped-for sustainable improvement because the often-invisible environmental barriers to change have not been identified and addressed. Efficient PFAS removal from urban wastewater using a novel two-step approach. This project aims to enhance the removal of per- and poly-fluroalkyl substances (PFAS) compounds from municipal wastewater by making two simple amendments to standard wastewater treatment plants. Magnetite nanoparticles will be added to the treatment process, which adsorb PFAS compounds and reduce them to acceptable environmental levels. Today, investigation of human language depends on access to this vast store of language data. This project will develop new infrastructure for accessing language resources, namely a language-aware search engine. Language technologies will be employed to classify web content, and a special search keyword 'lang:' will constrain search results to be in the specified language. The system will be integrated with major language archives in Australia and overseas, and deployed on the high performance computing infrastructure at Melbourne University's Advanced Research Computing Centre.
