Learning by Design: Creating pedagogical frameworks for knowledge building in the 21st century. International achievement tests are impacting educational policy in Australia, with significant attention on top-performing Finland and the consistent success of Asian classrooms. Recent research has raised concerns about what forms of knowing (i) find their expression in student test performance, or (ii) remain unrevealed by most available forms of testing (particularly international testing). Given China's entry into the WTO and building upon research into the uses of international education this project will investigate educational changes arising from Chinese students studying abroad. Its theoretical and empirical focus is the changes that the mobility of international students is effecting in the universities in which they are studying. ....International student mobility and educational innovation: Chinese students and the internationalisation of Australian and American universities. Given China's entry into the WTO and building upon research into the uses of international education this project will investigate educational changes arising from Chinese students studying abroad. Its theoretical and empirical focus is the changes that the mobility of international students is effecting in the universities in which they are studying. It will explore how Chinese students' identity formation, career trajectories and transnational relationships inform changes in Australian and American universities.
