Slicing India: a new perspective for understanding contemporary India. This project exploits techniques of slice history, pioneered in AUSTRALIANS: A HISTORICAL LIBRARY. Pacific Futures Network: Security, Governance and Development in the Pacific Islands Region. The proposed research network will interweave the following strands in order to create an entirely new level and quality of diagnosis, prognosis and action in Pacific-oriented research: (a) ANU and Australian expertise and knowledge base; (b) regional expertise, especially in universities, research institutes, archives and cultural institutions; (c) digital expertise; (d) existing networking capacity and ....Pacific Futures Network: Security, Governance and Development in the Pacific Islands Region. The project will significantly increase knowledge about organisational and individual responses to systems of financing university research. A comparison of University research in Australia to a 'ground state' of research that has not been affected by evaluation-based funding will assist Australian policy makers to better manage the use of tax payer dollars to fund research. Public opinion is crucial to democratic theory and practice, but its extensive multi-disciplinary literature is littered with contested definitions. One major (and heated) debate concerns whether public opinion should, in principle, comprise the views of individuals, as aggregated in polls, or of groups, as expressed through collective statements and action. This project examines public opinion in reality rather than in principle, using social psychology to predict that individuated and group-based representations serve distinct purposes for specific social actors under specific social and political conditions. The audit process was pioneered in Britain and has now been applied in ten countries including New Zealand.
