Australian Membership of the International Ocean Discovery Program. This proposal is for an 18-month membership of the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP), the world’s largest collaborative research program in Earth and Ocean sciences. The Program studies the history and current activity of the Earth by conducting seagoing coring expeditions and monitoring of instrumented boreholes, using globally unique infrastructure that Australians would otherwise have no access to. A new generation fast mapping Raman system. This fast-imaging Raman facility will give researchers at the University of Tasmania a new tool to rapidly analyse the chemical properties of a wide range of materials in a non destructive way. It will complement other instrumentation and support a diverse range of research areas addressing several national research priorities.
