Integrated on-chip force and displacement sensors for high-speed atomic force microscopy of ultimate sensitivity. This project aims to develop next generation atomic force microscopy systems based on a novel interferometric method for on-chip force and displacement sensing. The proposed sensitivity improvement of two orders of magnitude over the present state-of-the-art will provide a disruptive innovation for various present and future nanotechnologies.

Summary
Controlled radiation facility to investigate turbulence-radiation-chemistry interactions in high-flux solar reactors. This project's facility will support the transition of Australia’s energy intensive industries, including minerals and resources, to a much lower carbon intensity. It will also underpin collaborations with internationally leading partners to develop novel solar-combustion hybrid reactors for the production of solar fuels and for minerals processing.

This project proposes novel low-cost miniature devices for spectroscopic, spatial, and temporal manipulation of infrared and terahertz waves, which are important for security and short range communication applications. By enabling the modulation of infrared and terahertz signals, the intended outcome is a platform for imaging applications, detection of chemical composition of objects, and future high-bandwidth communications.
