Australian e-Research Grid. The e-Research Grid program will research and implement core Grid technologies on APAC and partner's deployed HPC resources, to underpin a broad range of Australian research. The computer science CIs will form collaborative links with international programs, adapting developments to local circumstances. The applications-domain CIs will leverage those into their scientific simulations and databases, using grid integrative techniques and portals. Many CIs participate in ....Australian e-Research Grid. The e-Research Grid program will research and implement core Grid technologies on APAC and partner's deployed HPC resources, to underpin a broad range of Australian research. The computer science CIs will form collaborative links with international programs, adapting developments to local circumstances. The applications-domain CIs will leverage those into their scientific simulations and databases, using grid integrative techniques and portals. Many CIs participate in other RNs linking to their motivating applications, enhancing prospects for research and integration. Why do only some exotics become invasive? Combining ecological and genomic approaches to address alternative hypotheses in a recent Australian weed. This project will specifically test alternative hypotheses about how weeds become invasive. As invasive weeds affect both agricultural and native ecosystems equally, research on understanding the mechanisms of weed invasion is critical. Defining the earliest events in lymphatic vasculature formation from veins. Vascular system development is one of the earliest events that occurs in the embryo. The entire lymphatic vascular system forms from the embryo’s early veins. This project aims to define the earliest molecular and cellular changes essential to form an entire second vessel network from just a few precursor cells in the embryo. Summary
Neurocognitive disorders (NCD) are one of the most common genetic conditions in our society and it results with a need for ongoing permanent care for many affected people. Until recently, only 30% of people with NCD could be diagnosed but this has changed with the availability of genomic testing where all genes can be tested at once. The use of genomics in the CRE will lead to new NCD genes being identified and this information being translated into a clinical setting.

Summary
The sequencing of the human genome brings the possibility of more accurate identification of the underlying basis of many diseases. This technology has moved so rapidly, however, that clinical access has been limited. In this application, a national alliance of clinicians, researchers, health economists and policymakers will evaluate the case for clinical genomics across inherited disease and cancer, determine how best to deliver this to the patient and train a capable workforce.

Establishing genetic guidelines for the effective ecological restoration of seagrass meadows. Industry and coastal development in Australia are of national importance for economic growth and prosperity, but they threaten benthic habitats, like seagrasses. Loss of seagrass meadows without mitigation results in greater coastal impacts from damaging storms and waves and a reduction in the health and productivity of marine environments globally. Thus the ecological restoration of seagrass meadows is ....Establishing genetic guidelines for the effective ecological restoration of seagrass meadows. Industry and coastal development in Australia are of national importance for economic growth and prosperity, but they threaten benthic habitats, like seagrasses. Learning human activities through low cost, unobtrusive RFID technology. A rapidly growing aged population presents many challenges to Australia's health and aged care services. The outcomes of this project will help aging Australians live in their own homes longer, with greater independence and safety by providing an automated, unobtrusive means for health professionals to monitor activity and intervene as required.

The solution to the existing explosion in distribution network costs is to develop customer-responsive solutions in demand management and use of storage.
