MESH is a cross-disciplinary network that amalgamates a national array of sub-networks of research in digital arts, ICT and cross-cultural and policy negotiation. MESH is a cross-disciplinary network that amalgamates a national array of sub-networks of research in digital arts, ICT and cross-cultural and policy negotiation. It boosts Australia's existing cross-disiciplinary strengths in Media-arts, E-culture, Science and Humanities by encouraging existing digital sub-networks to grow together via well-brokered communications and demonstrations online and on-location. This project aims to undertake a detailed examination of how the arts and sciences can work together to address the complex challenges of contemporary life. Community arts, community broadcasting and Indigenous media producers all face the challenge of digital media and user-led innovation. This project brings these systems together to test how existing infrastructure and new media affordances can be combined to stimulate broad-based innovation through creative participation.

The Big Australian Speech Corpus: An audio-visual speech corpus of Australian English. Contemporary speech science and technology are driven by the availability of large speech corpora. While audio databases exist for languages spoken in America, Europe and Japan, there is currently no large auditory-visual database of spoken language, and certainly not one for Australian English.
