Work related road safety countermeasures in a large fleet (QFleet). Despite accounting for more than 20% of the road crashes, relatively little research has been conducted on fleet safety in Australia. This research will develop guidelines for current best practice and design, implement and evaluate several new countermeasures. More importantly, it will develop a comprehensive model for future design, implementation and evaluation of fleet safety that will extend the frontier of knowledge in cra ....Work related road safety countermeasures in a large fleet (QFleet). Despite accounting for more than 20% of the road crashes, relatively little research has been conducted on fleet safety in Australia. This research will develop guidelines for current best practice and design, implement and evaluate several new countermeasures. More importantly, it will develop a comprehensive model for future design, implementation and evaluation of fleet safety that will extend the frontier of knowledge in crash analysis and prevention. By working closely with QFleet, current fleet safety thinking will be advanced to reduce the frequency and severity of road crashes thereby reducing road trauma and increasing business effectiveness.Read moreRead less

This project will develop and evaluate an Occupational Health and Safety competency framework for work related road safety practices within seven council operational vehicles fleets. The results from this research will apply to work related driving in numerous organisations and communities and it is expected that results will carry over into the public domain as organisations involved comprise employees that are representatives of local communities. The information obtained from this research will have economic implications in numerous small vehicle operations that currently lack resources to obtain and develop the information and outcomes of this research program. However, road safety research suggests that approaches need to be multi-dimensional. CARRS-Q (a leading centre in road safety research) in conjunction with Telstra (who operate Australia's largest national vehicle fleet) intend to develop a multi-dimensional approach to improving fleet safety and establish the true industry costs of fleet related crashes. This research will enable industry to reduce work place death and injury resulting in socio/economic advantage to Australia. Read moreRead less

The aim of this research is to use Shiftwork, Stress, Social Identity and Communication Accommodation Theories to develop and apply a theoretical framework to the hospital-based nursing sector that explains the current turnover crisis through an examination of the relationships between work environment factors, health, wellbeing, job satisfaction and voluntary turnover intention. Then, to use this framework to develop an intervention strategy that incorporates the individual, dyadic, intergroup and organisational levels that will improve individual, team and organisational functioning thereby creating a more supportive working environment that will increase health, wellbeing, job satisfaction and lessen turnover.Read moreRead less
