This project considers issues of cultural change, continuity and identity as they arise from the historical foundations of Shark Bay's present day community in Western Australia. It examines the ways in which Indigenous customary practices continue among the Malgana people, and how connection to sea and country remains an important facet of life. Transatlantic slavery, the African diaspora and the unfree settlement of Australia, 1750-1850. This project breaks new ground in historical research and will open up areas of demographic and cultural history rarely understood by historians. By reading penal transportation as an aspect of the international traffic in unfree labour and its use as a form of control throughout the British colonies, as well as examining penal systems in relationship to coercive labour management in the Atlantic world ....Transatlantic slavery, the African diaspora and the unfree settlement of Australia, 1750-1850. This project breaks new ground in historical research and will open up areas of demographic and cultural history rarely understood by historians. A new history of Fascist Italy 1915-1945. I shall write a book, commissioned by Penguin in English and Mondadori in Italian, on the social history of the Fascist dictatorship. Utilising accumulated research and new material which shall be worked through from the archives in Rome, I shall show how ordinary Italians lived under a tyranny which purported to be totalitarian. It will result in deeper knowledge about how cultural and ethnic diversity affects the way communities use urban parks and how they interact with each other in those parks. It will result in deeper knowledge about how cultural and ethnic diversity affects the way communities use urban parks and how they interact with each other in those parks. Enterprising Chinese Australians and the diaspora networks, 1890-1949. From the late 19th century to the present, Chinese Australian businesses and merchants have played an important but under-acknowledged role in bilateral trade and investment. This project aims to provide the first systematic study of how Chinese Australian enterprises and diasporic networks were developed from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Historical insights will be enhanced through extensive use of bilingual arch ....Enterprising Chinese Australians and the diaspora networks, 1890-1949. From the late 19th century to the present, Chinese Australian businesses and merchants have played an important but under-acknowledged role in bilateral trade and investment.
