This project aims to develop methods to assist the assessment and improvement of collocated teamwork, by making multimodal activity traces visible and available for computational analysis. This project expects to bridge the gap between promising sensing technologies and the dearth of tools to automatically assess teamwork. Expected outcomes include co-design and modelling methodologies for human-centred analytics that map from low-level data to higher-order constructs to enable non-data science savvy users to get actionable insights into multimodal team traces. This research aims to provide significant benefits to Australia, with communication and teamwork being two of the topmost critical skills required by Australian employers.Read moreRead less
Automating real-time feedback in virtual reality training through data mining. This project will use data mining techniques to develop a real-time feedback system that can be used in virtual reality training environments. This system will not only improve trainees' learning, it will also lead to more efficient use of virtual reality training in industries such as aviation, aerospace, mining, health and emergency services.
Adoption of Australian IFRS: Are IFRS "fit for purpose"? The project seeks to explore the usefulness of modifications made to company earnings based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS; Australia’s mandatory accounting standards) by financial report preparers and users. The project seeks to explore the usefulness of modifications made to company earnings based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS; Australia’s mandatory accounting standards) by financial report preparers and users. The project intends to show how share markets respond to adjustments to IFRS earnings and provide evidence to assist standard setters and regulators in policy decisions to strengthen the financial reporting framework and to improve the comparability and transparency of financial information. A more robust framework would improve capital market efficiency, promote economic growth in Australia and support the goal of making Australia a world-leading financial market.Read moreRead less

This project examines consumer perceptions of and their differential responses to traditional versus online education through the lens of service separation. Service separation implies that the production and consumption of the service do not take place simultaneously. Thus, online course offerings, which are posted on the Internet and accessed remotely by students, represent a separated service. In contrast, traditional education represents an unseparated service, as the teaching and learning occur simultaneously in the classroom. This project will explain student preference for one mode of education delivery over the other in terms of their psychological motivation. The outcomes of this research are expected to influence the provision of higher education.Read moreRead less
Young children in digital society: An Online Tool for service provision . This project aims to identify the practices enacted and shared amongst young children, their families and educators in digital society. The project is significant because in digital society families and educators face new demands ensuring technologies are used in the best interests of young children. Knowledge about practices in digital society informs adult decision-making using technologies with, by and for young children ....Young children in digital society: An Online Tool for service provision . This project aims to identify the practices enacted and shared amongst young children, their families and educators in digital society. The project is significant because in digital society families and educators face new demands ensuring technologies are used in the best interests of young children. Knowledge about practices in digital society informs adult decision-making using technologies with, by and for young children in the early years. The outcome is a new Online Tool for the Partner Organisations to share exemplar practices benefiting Australian children, their families and educators with new resources, materials and programs in areas including: digital media production, cyber-safety education, digital play and digital parenting.

The introduction of Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) will have an immediate and lasting impact on the cost of doing business in Australia. By determining how accounting processes can be optimised to identify, measure and analyse the impact of emissions trading on organisations' financial performance, this project will be a significant step in minimising the negative impact of this historic change on the Australian economy, and maximising the associated business opportunities. Our findings will be the basis for giving the accounting profession the new skills to adopt a central role in meeting the carbon challenge.Read moreRead less
Modelling complex learning spaces. The growing use of digital tools and resources means that students' learning activities are no longer tied to unique physical places. Their work is distributed across increasingly complex mixtures of physical and digital spaces, which both shape and are shaped by students' activity. This project aims to identify productive ways of modelling the characteristics and uses of complex learning spaces in higher education. Evidence and models generated by the project aim to strengthen the logic connecting the use, management and design of learning spaces. A better understanding of the relations between pedagogy, activity and space will improve the work of architects and other designers, campus managers, university teachers and students themselves.Read moreRead less
