Funded Activity Summary

Urban Soundscapes in Renaissance Spain. This project will contribute to understanding the cultural history of Spain and augment awareness of urban soundscapes in order to better understand our past and develop urban space in the future. The project will examine European musical behaviour in urban centres 400-500 years ago. The project will interpret history in a way that is engaging and relevant to contemporary readers in Australia and throughout the world. It will also assist in positioning Australian research at the international cutting edge through the development of an innovative form of urban music history and associated methodologies.
