Funded Activity Summary

The birth and rebirth of radio galaxies. When gas falls onto a massive black hole at the centre of a galaxy, it can generate powerful radio emitting jets. By using radio telescopes to make new multi-frequency observations of distant galaxies, the project will map out these accretion events and measure how the birth rate of radio galaxies changes with cosmic time and environment.
