Summary
This study forms Work Package 2 of the Orygen@Home Evaluation program of research. We will compare effectiveness and safety of the Orygen@Home service model compared to standard inpatient psychiatric care using an emulated/targeted trial design. The primary outcome is the Health of the Nation Outcome Scale for Children and Adolescents (HoNOSCA)/Health of the National Outcome Scale (HoNOS). Secondary outcomes include measures of functioning at discharge, readmission rates, days in hospital, disch ....This study forms Work Package 2 of the Orygen@Home Evaluation program of research. Hospital-in-the-home (HiTH) is used in other medical settings but has seen limited application as an alternative to inpatient care in youth mental health, especially in Australia. This study forms Work Package 1 of the Orygen@Home Evaluation program of research, which aims to examine the experiences of key stakeholders including young people who've been admitted to the service, their caregivers and family members, plus Orygen@Home clinicians and peer workers. Eighty participants across all stakeholder groups will take part in an evaluation survey. From this sample, a sub-set of 26-30 participants will also complete a face-to-face semi-structured interview.
